The internet is an extremely valuable tool
which is used everyday in education by a range of people including
teachers and children. It is hard to imagine life in the classroom
without access to the internet.
At Adderlane we have a range of systems in place to ensure safe surfing from our children, such as protection through Northumberland County Council who provide us with our broadband. If our children need to access the internet for work related studies, they do so through sites approved by their class teacher. Any surfing is done under the supervision of their class teacher. For advice on using the internet at home there are a number of websites which provide useful information. These can be found below: http://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ Thinkuknow is an excellent website including information for different age groups up to 16, including 5-7. http://www.ceop.gov.uk/ This site includes a section dedicated "Purely for Parents" http://www.childnet-int.org/ Childnet boasts to "help make the internet a great and safe place for children" http://www.getsafeonline.org/ This site includes top ten safety tips! If you would like to download software which provides you with internet filtering and control visit this highly recommended site for a free download. http://www1.k9webprotection.com/ (Home use only) If you would like to chat to someone about internet use at home or school then please feel free to make an appointment with Mr Thorogood. |
